A SUPERCOMPUTER AND THE AI IN AIIMS

Why in the news?

Researchers at AIIMS Delhi developed an AI system, iOncology AI, utilising a supercomputer in Pune and a server called Charak I at the National Cancer Institute campus in Jhajjar to assist oncologists in identifying optimal cancer therapies.

About Functionality of Oncology AI:

  • Analyzes genetic mutations in cancer patients.
  • Recommends tailored treatment options by cross-referencing data.
  • Aims to sequence genomes of 3,000 cancer patients.
  • Understands correlation between genetic makeup and treatment efficacy.
  • Stores patient data for treatment decision-making.
