Traffic Awareness Rally
17th Nov 2022: The participation, which began with a wintry early-morning trip, was fascinating and exciting for two reasons: first, it was the first such event held outside the campus in which first-semester students were participating; and second, it was done to raise awareness about road accidents, which are on the rise. The latter is a task that everyone who wants to improve society must complete.
As already indicated, the trip to the Kanteerava Stadium, where the event would start, was early in the morning. We arrived about fifteen minutes early and got ready for the “Jatha,” or rally, in which we were meant to take part by waving signs and shouting awareness-raising phrases. As students from several universities arrived, the rally started a half-hour later than scheduled. As soon as the rally started, we got to work holding placards and directing them toward the early-morning commuters who were traveling to their places of employment, schools, etc.
The commuters read our banners with interest since they were pretty intrigued about what was written on them. We think that the silent communication between our banners and the moving public must have raised awareness among them. The rally started from Kanteerava Stadium, passed by Vidhana Soudha, and came back to Kanteerava Stadium, traveling roughly seven to eight kilometers through the centre of Bangalore.
The eminent speakers on the dais addressed the crowd on preventing traffic accidents and raising public awareness of the need for safety precautions.
The faculty coordinator of Universal School of Administration Mr. Manoj Kumar and the student co-ordinator Muniruddin Qureshi received certificates for our active engagement in the awareness programme during the function. After the programme, we spoke with the resource persons, who appreciated us for attending and requested us to express their gratitude to Chairman Sri R. Upendra Shetty Sir and the entire Management for sending the Youth Red Cross volunteers of the institution to the event.
We had a rich overall experience and took action that was both novels and urgently needed.
We also express our gratitude to the management team for taking an initiative in traffic awareness by sending us to the event and arranging for our participation.
