India Leads Expanded BRICS Agenda in 2026
As the Chair of BRICS in 2026, India is hosting a series of high-level meetings across the country, highlighting its growing role in global governance. The BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting was held in New Delhi in May, while the Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting took place in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, in June. Agra hosted the BRICS MSME Forum, and Gurugram is hosting the Energy Ministers’ Meeting.
The BRICS National Security Advisers’ Meeting, chaired by NSA Ajit Doval in New Delhi, focused on terrorism, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and emerging security threats. With the expanded 11-member BRICS grouping, these meetings underscore India’s efforts to strengthen cooperation on security, food security, trade, energy and the priorities of the Global South in an increasingly multipolar world.
