About Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS):

National Standard Body: Established under the BIS Act 2016.
Successor of ISI: Formed in 1947 to ensure quality control in industrialization.
Administrative Control: Operates under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
Functions: Provides traceability, promotes safe goods, controls proliferation, and promotes exports.

About Production Linked Incentive Scheme 2.0:

Objective: Financial incentive to boost domestic manufacturing and attract investments in laptops, tablets, PCs, and servers.
Implementation: Eligible companies receive support for manufacturing within target segments.
Applicant Classification: Companies categorised as global, hybrid (global/domestic), or domestic based on origin.
Selection Process: Ranking and PLI projection determine applicant selection, subject to budget availability.
Tenure: Incentives applicable for 6 years.
Base Year: Calculation based on net incremental sales compared to 2022-23.
Incentive Payout: Maximum caps for global, hybrid, and domestic companies: INR 45 billion, INR 22.50 billion, and INR 5 billion respectively.
