  • Emphasises the importance of restoring degraded ecosystems for sustainable environmental impact.
  • Forest departments from 13 states offer 387 land parcels of degraded forest land for restoration, covering nearly 10,983 hectares.
  • Individuals and companies can apply through the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) to fund restoration projects, executed by state forest departments.
  • Recent Ministry guidelines allow flexibility in tree density requirements for reforested landscapes, recognizing varying ecosystem capacities.

About Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) :

●   Apex body in national forestry research.

●   Promotes, conducts, coordinates research, education, and extension covering all forestry aspects.

Objectives of ICFRE:

1.  Conduct, aid, and promote forestry education, research, and applications.

2.  Develop and manage a national library and information centre for forestry and related sciences.

3.  Serve as a clearinghouse for forest and wildlife research and general information.

4.  Develop forestry extension programs and disseminate them through mass media and extension machinery.
