About the SSLNG Significance:

  • Offers cleaner, cost-effective alternatives to diesel, vital for reducing import dependency and promoting green energy.
  • Overcomes challenges of pipeline connectivity, enabling LNG utilisation in remote areas and transportation sectors.
About Liquefied Natural Gas(LNG):

●  LNG is natural gas converted to liquid form through chilling to about -260 degrees Fahrenheit for transportation and storage.

●  Benefits include reduced CO2 emissions, competitive pricing, ease of storage and transport, and enhanced energy security.

What is Small Scale LNG (SSLNG) ?

●  Small Scale LNG (SSLNG) involves cooling and transporting natural gas on a smaller scale.

●  It ensures delivery in remote areas using special trucks and small boats where pipelines are absent.

●  Managed by an automated SCADA system, SSLNG provides LNG either in its liquid form or super-chilled for various applications.

About India’s first Small Scale LNG Plant:

●   India inaugurated its first Small Scale LNG Plant at GAIL’s Vijaipur site in Madhya Pradesh.

●   The facility produces 36 tonnes of LNG daily using SSLNG skids, ZPTS, and cryo boxes.

●   India targets 15% share of natural gas in its energy mix by 2030 due to lower emissions.
