About Tejas Aircraft Crash in Jaisalmer:

  • A Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed during an operational training sortie near Jaisalmer.
  • This marks the first crash of the indigenous jet since its maiden flight in 2001.
  • The pilot ejected safely, and a Court of Inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause of the incident. The crash occurred during the tri-Service firepower demonstration exercise Bharat Shakti in Pokhran.

●   The LCA programme began in 1984 under the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) to develop indigenous combat aircraft.
