About Chalukya Badami Dynasty
● Chalukyas ruled Deccan for 6-12th centuries, comprising Badami, Western, and Eastern Chalukyas. ● Pulakesi I founded the dynasty in 550. ● Pulakesi II expanded territory but faced defeat from Pallavas. ● Vikramaditya I and II restored empire’s glory; Rashtrakutas ended their rule in 753 ● Jogulamba temples at Alampur and submerged Yeleswaram sites marked the farthest reaches of Chalukya Badami kingdom, the new discovery expands its historical extent. ● Two temples on the river bank and five within the village were found, along with an inscription dating back to the reign of Badami Chalukyas (543-750 AD). |
