About All-India Conference of Director/Inspector Generals of Police :

  • Annual event organized by Intelligence Bureau.
  • Presided by the Director, IB, a leading figure among senior police officers.
  • Involves extensive deliberations with district, state, and national police and intelligence officers..
About Intelligence Bureau (IB)

·   IB is India’s internal intelligence agency, focusing on domestic intelligence, counter-intelligence, and counter-terrorism tasks.

·   Initially entrusted with intelligence collection in border areas as per the Himmatsinh Ji Committee‘s recommendations in 1951.

·   Under the Ministry of Home Affairs, it carries out various functions, including granting safety clearances and wiretapping without a warrant.

·   Authorized for warrantless wiretapping.

·   Staff includes officers from law enforcement agencies like IPS and IRS, along with military personnel.

·   The Director of Intelligence Bureau is traditionally an IPS officer.
