Why in the News?
- About 50% of daily cybercrime complaints reported to the national cybercrime helpline originate from China.
- Additionally, pockets of cybercriminal activities are identified in Cambodia and Myanmar.

About Rising Cybercrime Incidents:
- India records an average of 5,000 daily cybercrime complaints, with 15.5 lakh complaints received in 2023, a notable increase from 26,049 in 2019.
- From April 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023, cyber fraud led to a loss of ₹10,319 crore.
- Financial fraud victims can register complaints on cybercrime.gov.in or the 1930 helpline.
- ₹1,127 crore has been blocked in multiple bank accounts since April 2021, following 4.3 lakh victim complaints.
