Why in the news?

The Prime Minister chaired the meeting of the 43rd edition of PRAGATI involving Centre and State governments. He reviewed eight key projects spread across Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat, and Maharashtra having cumulative worth around 31 thousand crore rupees.

PRAGATI Platform

  • PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) is an ICT-based innovative and integrated technology platform launched by the Government of India in 2015.
  • Aim: to address the challenges of governance, particularly in the domains of
    • project implementation
    • policy planning, and
    • public service delivery.
  • PRAGATI acts as a bridge between the government, states, and key ministries, fostering transparency, accountability, and efficient decision-making.

  • Multi-Modal Platform: PRAGATI is a multi-modal platform that enables real-time and direct interactions between the Prime Minister, Union Council of Ministers, state governments, and government departments.
  • Project Monitoring and Implementation: Government projects across various sectors, such as infrastructure, health, and education, are tracked to ensure they meet deadlines and budget constraints.
