Enceladus : Small Moon Of Saturn
News: ‘Phosphorous’ is found on Saturn’s moon Enceladus by NASA’s Cassini mission.
It is the brightest of all Saturn’s moons and the second closest of its major regular moons.
It was named after one of the Giants (Gigantes) from Greek mythology and found in 1789 by the English astronomer William Herschel.
It is a dynamic moon that conceals a vast ocean of salted water beneath its surface.
It is the most reflecting body in the solar system, with an icy surface that is surprisingly smooth in certain parts and brilliant white everywhere.
NASA started the Cassini spacecraft mission in 1997, and it orbited Saturn from 2004 to 2017, orbiting the planet 294 times.
It assessed the composition of Saturn’s atmosphere, rings, and interactions with its moons.
Six named moons were also found, and Titan and Enceladus were identified as possible sites for the hunt for extraterrestrial life.
