Sagar Samriddhi : Online Dredging Monitoring System
News: The “Sagar Samriddhi” online dredge monitoring system was recently introduced by the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. The process of dredging involves clearing sediment and other detritus from the bottom of lakes, rivers, harbours, and other bodies of water.
An online dredging monitoring system is called Sagar Samriddhi.
The new method concentrates on monetizing dredged material while also tightening the monitoring regime for dredging contracts.
The government is working to advance the “Waste to Wealth” initiative.
The National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways and Coasts (NTCPWC), the MoPSW’s technology division, designed this system.
In comparison to the outdated Draught and Loading Monitor (DLM) system, the new technology offers a noticeable improvement.
The Sagar Samriddhi monitoring system will be used for all future monitoring at the nation’s major ports, which will aid in project implementation and reduce expenses.
The system will assist in visualising progress on a daily and monthly basis, maintain location data, and keep track of dredger performance and downtime.
