Exploration Of Coal And Lignite Scheme: Approved Continuation

News: The continuance of the central sector plan, “Exploration of Coal and Lignite Scheme,” with an estimated cost of 2,980 crore, was approved by the Indian union government.

The prolongation will last from 2021–2022 through 2025–2026.

In accordance with this plan, exploring for coal and lignite is carried out in two major stages: (i) promotional (regional) exploration and (ii) detailed exploration in blocks outside of those owned by Coal India Limited.

This plan is necessary to demonstrate and quantify the country’s coal resources, which aids in creating thorough project reports to begin coal mining.

These explorations’ geological results are used to auction off new coal blocks, and the winning bidder is then responsible for paying for them.
