Spear Phishing : Report

News: In 2022, spear phishing may have affected up to 53% of the firms surveyed in India, according to a new analysis.

A specific person, group, or company is the target of a spear phishing email or electronic communication scam.

It is a deliberate attempt to steal private information, like login credentials for an account or financial information, from a specific victim.

This is accomplished through obtaining personal information about the victim, such as their acquaintances, birthplace, employer, favourite hangouts, and recent internet purchases.

Using social engineering strategies, a spear phishing email persuades the target to click on a dangerous link or file.

The email will also shamelessly request the recipient to respond immediately, such as providing a certain amount of money or sending personal information like a banking password.

Victims incorrectly think they know and trust the sender since the emails are written in a very familiar tone and contain references to personal information about the receiver, so they comply with the request.

Once the victim has performed the requested action, the attacker can enter a network covertly by stealing the login information from a selected genuine user.
