World Schizophrenia Awareness Day 2023: 24th May 2023

News: Schizophrenia Day was observed by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) to promote awareness of and combat stigma associated with mental illness.

Schizophrenia is a persistent, severe mental illness that has an impact on a person’s relationships with others as well as their thinking, acting, and emotional expression.

Young adults in the productive age range are the group most affected.

Schizophrenia affects one in every 100 persons, and males are twice as likely to have this illness than women.

Although the symptoms of schizophrenia might vary from person to person, they can be broadly divided into three groups: psychotic, negative, and cognitive.

Hallucinations, delusions, cognitive disorders, and movement disorders are examples of psychotic symptoms.

lack of motivation, lack of interest in or enjoyment from daily tasks, withdrawal from social life, trouble expressing emotions, and other negative symptoms are only a few examples.
