Kudumbashree Celebrates Silver Jubilee:

News: The largest self-help organisation network in the nation, Kudumbashree, celebrated its silver anniversary during President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit to Kerala.

In Kerala, Kudumbashree was founded in 1997 with the goal of eradicating poverty and empowering women in accordance with the recommendations of a task force that the government had appointed.

The mission was started with the help of the Government of India and NABARD. It is called Kudumbashree, which in Malayalam means “prosperity of the family,” and it focuses on eradicating poverty and empowering women. It also encourages democratic leadership and offers support networks within the “Kudumbashree family.”

The mission is administered by a three-tier structure made up of, Neighbourhood Groups (NHGs), Area Development Societies (ADS), Community Development Societies (CDS), and Neighbourhood Groups (NHGs) at the local government level.

A substantial network of self-help groups is created by this framework.

Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are unofficial organisations where people gather to discuss how to better their living circumstances.

It can be characterised as a self-governing, peer-controlled information group of people from comparable socioeconomic backgrounds who want to work together to accomplish a common goal.

SHG uses the idea of “Self Help” to promote entrepreneurship and poverty eradication.
