Trade Infrastructure For Export Scheme

News: A total of 40 export infrastructure projects have had funding approved for between 2019 and 2023 under the Trade Infrastructure for Export Scheme (TIES), the Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry informed the legislature.

Trade Infrastructure for Export Scheme (TIES): This programme took the position of Aid to States for Creating Infrastructure for the Development and Growth of Exports, a programme that was centrally financed (ASIDE).

By filling infrastructure gaps, building targeted export infrastructure, and improving first- and last-mile connectivity, the goal is to increase export competitiveness.

The Central and State Agencies, including the Commodities Boards, SEZ Authorities, Export Promotion Councils, and Apex Trade Bodies recognised under the Government of India’s EXIM policy, are eligible for financial support under this scheme.

The programme provides grants-in-aid to Central/State Government owned organisations (or their Joint Ventures with primary stakes held by them) in order to establish or improve export infrastructure in States/UTs.

The States may use the programme through their implementing organisations for infrastructure projects that have strong export connections, such as border haats, land customs stations, labs for quality testing and certification, cold chains, trade promotion offices, export warehousing and packaging, SEZs, and ports and airports cargo terminals.

The TIES is being implemented by the Department of Commerce (Ministry of Trade and Industry).
