Long-Range Artillery Weapon System

News: Defence With Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) has recently inked an MoU for the local production and supply of its LORA Weapon System for the Indian Tri-services.

A long-range ballistic missile, a special launcher, a command and control system, and a ground/marine support system make up the LORA Weapon System, a sea-to-ground and ground-to-ground system.

It is created by the MALAM section of IAI’s Missiles & Space Group.

It offers diverse range ballistic assault capabilities with a precision level of 10 metres CEP (circular error probable).

The ballistic missile can be fired from platforms on land or in the water.

Its range is 280 kilometres.

A single-stage solid-fuel rocket motor powers it.

Its guiding system, which may be capable of in-flight manoeuvring, is based on both the Global Positioning System (GPS) and the Inertial Navigation System (INS).
