ChatGPT-Powered WhatsApp Chatbot

News: A WhatsApp Chatbot powered by ChatGPT is being developed by the Ministry of Electronics and IT’s (MeitY) BHASHINI to assist Indian farmers in learning about various government programmes.

• India’s language translation tool, BHASHINI (BHASHa INterface for India), is powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
• Due to ChatGPT’s present reliance on input in English and its limited support for local languages, the debut of the WhatsApp chatbot may take some time.
• Users will be able to ask an inquiry using voice notes.
• Simply ask a question using voice notes, and ChatGPT will respond with a voice-based answer.
• The chatbot was created with the rural and agrarian population of India in mind, which is primarily reliant on government programmes and subsidies.
• The variety of languages that these potential users speak makes it crucial to create a language model that can correctly recognise and comprehend them.
• Several Indian farmers who might not be comfortable typing on cellphones will benefit from this.
• Twelve languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Odia, and Assamese, will be supported by the ChatGPT-powered WhatsApp chatbot.
• The government’s Bhasha Daan Initiative will be deployed because the bulk of folks who use this chatbot do not speak English.
• As a component of Project BHASHINI, Bhasha Daan is an initiative to crowdsource language inputs for several Indian languages.
