Driving Holistic Action For Urban Rivers (DHARA)
News: The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) in collaboration with the National Institute of Urban Affairs is hosting DHARA, the annual gathering of the River Cities Alliance (RCA) members (NIUA)
- DHARA offers a forum for discussing and co-learning management strategies for regional water resources.
- River Cities Alliance is a platform specifically designed for river cities to generate ideas, have discussions, and share knowledge for managing urban waterways sustainably.
- Cities from states outside the Ganga basin and the Ganga basin are both represented.
- The Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs are working together to implement it.
- In 2021, 30 cities joined River Cities Association (RCA), which now has 95 cities as members across India.
- It works well with India’s G20 Presidency’s Urban20 (U20) programme to promote urban water security.
