Asia to use half of World’s electricity by 2025: IEA

News: The annual report of the International Energy Agency was just released. The World Energy Outlook and the Net Zero by 2050 report are the other two significant publications made by the organisation. By 2025, the Asian peninsula would consume half of the electricity generated worldwide, according to the agency’s annual report. By contrast, only 3% of the world’s electricity will be used in Africa by 2025. One-fifth of all people live in Africa.

 

  • The use of wind and nuclear electricity will rise. Compared to preindustrial levels, the global temperature has increased by 1.1 degrees Celsius.
  • The majority of the electricity used in Asia will come from China. Compared to the combined use of the US, India, and the EU, China will use more power.
  • Africa is to be the least consumer because it is less developed than the rest of the world.
  • The world’s need for electricity is increasingly influenced by the weather. India’s power usage would rise dramatically as a result of heat waves. Additionally, Europe’s increased use of electricity will result from the drought. In the US, there will be an upsurge in severe storms, which will seriously harm the electricity distribution infrastructure.
