India to be theme country at 2025 Madrid International Book Fair

News: Spain has been hosting the Madrid Book Fair since 1993. Publishers from throughout the world have set up around 350 stalls. During the fair, there are also book signings. India will be the focus of the 2025 Madrid International Book Fair. The International Book Fair, which took place in Kolkata in January 2023, has Spain as its theme.

  • It takes place every year. The fair does not sell electronic books. The event is out of the reach of e-commerce behemoths like Amazon and others. Amazon will have a booth at the event, though.
  • The expo mostly offers books written by Spanish-speaking authors. However, it advertises novels from the host nation. At the expo in 2025, Indian publications will be showcased.
  • The “London Book Fair” is the largest and most anticipated book fair in the world. The Frankfurt Book Fair, also held in Germany, is likewise extremely significant in comparison.
  • Five days are dedicated to the Frankfurt Book Fair. It resembles a trade show more. The show draws more wholesale dealers than the general public.
