India’s first research Center on G20 studies
News: O.P. Jindal Global University establishes India’s first research center on G20 Studies
- In preparation for India taking over the G20 Presidency on December 1, 2022, O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has made efforts to construct this Center.
- India has a great chance to take the lead in advancing innovative ideas that will increase the relevance and effect of this institution.
- 20 nations and the European Union make up the G20, an intergovernmental organisation.
- Its primary goal is to address problems with the world economy, particularly those involving international financial stability, reducing global warming, and sustainable development.
- But it’s important to remember that the G20 includes the biggest economies in both developed and developing nations.
- Surprisingly, the G20 represents over 80% of the worldwide gross domestic product (GDP), 75% of global trade, 2/3 of the world’s population, and 60% of its land area.
Objectives
- The Jindal Global Center for G20 Studies (JGC4G20) at O.P. Jindal Global University will have five main goals:
- first, to develop a strong vision for enabling academic institutions throughout the G20 region to build international collaborations between them;
- second, to launch new initiatives to promote G20 studies and greater understanding of the countries in G20 in all its dimensions across other Indian higher education institutions;
- third, to organise recurring lectures; and
- Fourth, to develop and expand India’s capabilities for doing research on G20 nations, with a particular emphasis on collaborative research between G20 institutions;
- Fifth, create cross-sectoral training and capacity building initiatives in close collaboration with G20 higher education institutions.
