“FSSAI BANS ‘100% FRUIT JUICE’ CLAIM ON RECONSTITUTED PRODUCTS”
Why in the news?
- The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has mandated food business operators (FBOs) to remove ‘100% fruit juices’ claim from reconstituted fruit juice labels due to misleading marketing practices.
- FSSAI acted following reports of inaccurate marketing, instructing FBOs to relabel products as ‘sweetened juice’ if nutritive sweeteners exceed 15 gm/kg, enforcing compliance by September 1.
