- C295 Transport Aircraft:
News: Senior Airbus executives have stated that the first Indian-made C295 military transport aircraft will begin to be produced in Vadodara, Gujarat, in 2026, from a factory that will be completely operational by November 2024. The Indian Air Force will replace its outdated Avro aircraft with the C295 Transport Aircraft, a next generation tactical airlifter in the light and medium category. It was created by the multinational European aircraft company Airbus.
Although it is strong and dependable, it is also incredibly versatile in terms of the range of tasks it can carry out. The aircraft can perform multi-role missions in all weather situations and has a flight endurance of up to 11 hours. It has a rear ramp door for quick response for cargo and troop para-dropping. Another one of its features is short takeoff and landing from semi-prepared surfaces.
- BepiColombo Spacecraft : Collected Data
News: The BepiColombo spacecraft gathered data during a close flyby of Mercury that revealed how electrons falling to the planet’s surface are causing X-ray auroras. Mercury mission BepiColombo is a collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Giuseppe “Bepi” Colombo, an Italian mathematician and engineer who made substantial contributions to our understanding of Mercury’s orbit, is honored by having his name associated with the expedition. BepiColombo, which was put into orbit on October 20, 2018, is an ambitious and challenging project with the goal of examining Mercury’s surface, atmosphere, magnetic field, and interactions with the solar system.
Two key parts make up the BepiColombo spacecraft are as follows:
Mercury Planetary Orbiter (MPO): Mainly supplied by ESA, the MPO is in charge of mapping and analyzing Mercury’s surface, as well as its topography and chemical makeup. Mercury’s magnetic field and magnetosphere are the subject of research by the JAXA-contributed Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter (MMO).
The goal is to learn more about the surface and chemical makeup of Mercury in order to comprehend its creation and geological history. Investigating the magnetic field and magnetosphere of Mercury to learn more about its internal dynamics and interactions with the solar wind, measuring and characterizing the exosphere, a very thin atmosphere, on Mercury.
- Bhoomi Samman 2023:
News: At a celebration hosted by the Union Ministry of Rural Development in New Delhi, the President of India handed the “Bhoomi Samman” 2023. The “Bhoomi Samman awards who have excelled in achieving saturation of the core components of Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP)” were given to the 9 state Secretaries and 68 District Collectors. The purpose of the Bhoomi Samman Awards is to recognize and promote exceptional performance in the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) implementation.
In the nation’s modernization of Digital India Land Records, Madhya Pradesh has taken the top spot. Madhya Pradesh’s 15 districts received a Platinum Grading for completing the Digital India Land Records Management Program’s requirements in all respects. As the grading system is heavily relied on reports and contributions from the States/UTs in the key areas of computerization and digitization of land records, it is a wonderful example of Center-State cooperative federalism built on trust and partnership. The Department of Land Resources, part of the Ministry of Rural Development, is putting into effect the DILRMP, a central sector program.
In order to create a suitable Integrated Land Information Management System (ILIMS) across the nation, it makes an effort to capitalize on the similarities that already exist in the field of land records across different States.
- Picolinic Acid : Can Block Several Viruses
News: Picolinic acid, a naturally occurring substance produced by human cells, has been shown in a recent study by scientists from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and associates to be able to inhibit numerous viruses, including the SARS-CoV-2 and influenza A viruses. Picolinic acid, which is a pyridine monocarboxylic acid with a carboxy group at position 2. It functions as a metabolic intermediary for tryptophan. It serves as a human metabolite and MALDI matrix component. It is a picolinate’s conjugate acid. In order to stop infection, the compound’s exceptional capacity to obstruct encapsulated viruses’ entry into the host’s cell is described in the study.
In its natural state, it only briefly resides inside the body and is typically immediately thrown out. However, it is known to aid in the absorption of zinc and other trace elements from our stomach. Several enveloped viruses, particularly flaviviruses like the Zika virus and the Japanese encephalitis virus, are resistant to it. It was discovered that the substance shielded the animals from infection when it was evaluated in SARS-CoV-2 and influenza animal models. When administered to infected animals, it was also discovered to lower the viral load in the lungs. The scientists also discovered that picolinic acid caused the rats’ immune cell counts to rise.
- Bura Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary : Illegal Encroachers
News: At the Bura Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary, a fight between a forest team and illegal encroachers resulted in several injuries. The Sonitpur district of Assam is home to the Bura Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary, which is situated on the river’s southern bank. The Laokhowa-Burachapori eco-system includes it.
It is made up of a patchwork of riparian and semi-evergreen woods, wetland and river systems, and wet alluvial grassland. There are many different kinds of medicinal plants and herbs abundant in the grassland. It is home to elephants, tigers, leopards, wild buffalo, hog deer, and one-horned rhinoceroses from Great India.
There is also the critically endangered Bengal Florican there. It also makes it the perfect location for various species of migrating birds to reproduce throughout the winter.
